Highly regarded prospects Emma Kern of Delano, Caroline Larsen of Eden Prairie and Grace Rabb of Andover won’t be back to defend their state championships.

Caroline Larsen, winner of two state titles last fall for Eden Prairie, is swimming this fall for a club, Team Foxjet, instead of the high school team. (Shari L. Gross, Star Tribune)

“Those kids have decided to take advantage of having more opportunities to compete at a higher level. They will also have a more rigorous and demanding practice schedule. We are right now at a spot where we have good younger talent in the state.” — Chris Aarseth, who coaches for a club and also is head coach at Minneapolis Southwest.
