Quick Q&A

Tell me about the Class 2A, Section 4 meet: I was pretty happy with swims overall. It was fun because a lot of people on our team did great. It’s always fun to see my teammates doing well.

What’s the toughest part about swimming? Not comparing myself to others. It’s important to focus on yourself and put forth your best effort for your team. I always try to be my best, keep working and do whatever I can to help my team.

Relays or individual races? Relays are definitely my favorite races because I love competing with my team. I am always pumped up and tend to swim my fastest splits because the races are so competitive.

Best swimming memory? A 200 IM race from a club competition. It was the finals of a four-day prelim and I was worn down and didn’t want to swim. My parents and coaches reminded me that swimming is all mental. It ended up being one of my best races and one that I still think of whenever I need to overcome a mental block.

Plans for college? I actually just got off the phone with Rice University, and I am going to be swimming there next fall. You’re the first to know besides my family. It was my top school and I am really excited go there.

Role model? My mom because she’s so selfless and always gives so much of her time to others. She loves helping other people and has been a great influence in so many lives, especially mine.
